Bruins Work to Improve During Bye Week
Oct. 17, 2012
UCLA (5-2, 2-2) had another good day of work on the practice field this morning as the team works to improve during the bye week. Younger players are seeing more of a role in the team drills this week. The Bruins will next play at 24th-ranked Arizona State on Saturday, Oct. 27. That contest will kick off at Noon and be televised by FX.
Quarterback Brett Hundley's 14 touchdown passes leave him three back of Tommy Maddox, the UCLA freshman record-holder who threw 17 in the 1990 season. Hundley's 167 completions rank third on the all-time school freshman list (Maddox is first, at 182). The Utah game marked the 17th straight which UCLA has won when holding the opponent to less than 20 points.
In some news of the day: Senior running back Johnathan Franklin was named to the first-team si.com Midseason All-America team. Junior linebacker Anthony Barr was named to the second-team All-America squad by CBSSports.com. Barr ranks T13th in the nation in sacks per game average (1.07).Franklin was also selected to the All-Pac-12 squad put together by CSBSports.com.
Three more home contests in the Rose Bowl remain for the Bruins, including the Nov. 3 battle against Arizona. For ticket information call 310-UCLA-WIN or visit uclabruins.com/tickets.
