VS. WASHINGTON STATE
UCLA owns a 10-8-1 record in games played in Pullman (road games have also been played in Spokane,WA and Portland, OR during the series).
A year ago in the Rose Bowl, UCLA pulled out a 28-25 decision over the Cougars. The Bruins trailed for much of the first three quarters of the contest, and were still down, 22-14, early in the fourth quarter when a 32-yard rush by Johnathan Franklin helped to spark the team. Kevin Prince, who had entered the game in the second quarter due to an injury to Richard Brehaut, passed nine-yards to Josh Smith for a touchdown to make it 22-20 with 10:52 to play. The two-point conversion attempt failed. A WSU field goal made it 25-20 with 5:49 remaining. The Bruins answered with Prince connecting on a 58-yard pass play with Nelson Rosario which put the Bruins at the Cougar 10-yard line. On third down, Evans grabbed a seven-yard scoring toss from Prince with 3:26 on the clock. The two-point conversion pass to Rosario made it 28-25. Andrew Abbott's interception stopped WSU's comeback chances. Franklin finished with 110 yards rushing.
In UCLA's last trip to Pullman (2009), the Bruins forced turnovers on WSU's first three series (interceptions by Akeem Ayers-2, now with the Titans, and Rahim Moore, now with the Broncos) en route to a 43-7 victory. Quarterback Kevin Prince accounted for 390 yards in total offense, 314 passing and 76 rushing, including a 68-yard scoring jaunt.
