Nov. 19, 2012
Linebacker Eric Kendricks was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. The redshirt sophomore collected 10 tackles, including a tackle for a loss, an interception, a forced fumble and a blocked punt against the Trojans.
Kendricks forced a fumble in the first quarter that led to a UCLA touchdown and intercepted a pass in the fourth quarter to help the Bruins to their win over USC. His punt block, which came after USC had closed to 24-20 in the third quarter, led to another UCLA touchdown, extending the lead to 31-20. Kendricks has recorded 112 total tackles this season, a total which tops the Conference, and his tackles average of 10.18 is tied for sixteenth in the nation.
The Fresno, CA product previously won the award on Nov. 5 after he made 13 tackles, including a career-best two sacks, against Arizona in a 66-10 Bruin win. He also forced a fumble in that contest.
