UCLA Sells Out Ticket Allotment for Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl
Dec. 12, 2012
UCLA has sold out its entire institutional allotment of 11,000 tickets for the Bruins' December 27 Holiday Bowl game match-up against the Baylor Bears. 2012 football season ticket holders and Wooden Athletic Fund donors accounted for the majority of the ticket purchases.
"I am very pleased to announce that our entire allotment of Holiday Bowl tickets has been exhausted," said UCLA Athletic Director Dan Guerrero. "I want to commend the Bruin Family for their support and offer a special thanks to our investors - our loyal season ticket holders and generous donors - who have not wavered in their enthusiasm of the program and will be in full force in San Diego."
The sell-out of UCLA's Holiday Bowl ticket allotment culminates a year of strong support for the football program. During the regular season, the Bruins experienced a 21-percent increase in home attendance at the Rose Bowl Stadium, the nation's second-highest uptick among FBS institutions.
The Bruins drew an average of 68,481 fans to their seven home games in 2012, marking the largest average attendance at UCLA home contests since 2008.
"The home-field advantage created by UCLA fans at the Rose Bowl this season was remarkable," said UCLA Head Football Coach Jim Mora. "As a football team, we are grateful for the support of the fans, and look forward to seeing a lot of Bruin Blue in Qualcomm Stadium on December 27."
Meanwhile, the Wooden Athletic Fund (WAF), UCLA Athletics' general fund, has already received more than $11 million in cash contributions in 2012, the highest total in school history.
Approximately 5,000 members have donated at least $100 annually to the WAF in this calendar year, including more than 1,500 new individuals or organizations, surpassing the goal set by the development office.
Donations received through the WAF go directly to support the needs of all UCLA student-athletes competing for each of the university's 24 athletic programs. The generous financial support received is absolutely vital in UCLA's ability to provide our student-athletes with the resources they need to succeed in competition, in the classroom and in the community.
UCLA fans who have purchased tickets and are planning on attending the Holiday Bowl should visit the Bowl Central page regularly for the most updated information on parking, hospitality, transportation and hotels as it becomes available.
