Freshman Jake Knapp led a contingent of four UCLA players Monday at the Cal State San Marcos Invitational played at Shadow Ridge Country Club in Vista, CA.

Knapp fired rounds of 70-65-135 (-9) to open up a nine-shot lead as the tournament enters the final round on Tuesday. The 65 (-7) tied a collegiate best for the first-year player from Costa Mesa.

Tied for fourth place was sophomore Matt Pinizzotto at two-over par 146 after rounds of 76-70. Freshman Reilly McMahon was tied for 25th place at 153 (+9) after carding scores of 81-72. Sophomore Preston Valder was tied for 61st place at 164 (+20).

The Bruins are playing as individuals in this event.
