Feb. 21, 2006

The UCLA men's golf Blue Team won its third tournament of the season Tuesday, rolling to an impressive victory at the Cougar Invitational, hosted by Cal State San Marcos at San Luis Rey Downs in Bonsall, CA.

The Bruin Blues posted scores of 287-290-285--862 (-2) to win for the second straight week. Last week the Blues won the Pala Mesa Invitational by 13 shots. The Bruins beat second place Pt. Loma-Nazarene by 23 shots.

"The players continue to put themselves into a position to win," said Assistant Coach Gus Montaño. "They're doing all the right things and improving each week. They're eager to play every tournament."

Freshman Lucas Lee won his first collegiate tournament title, beating teammate Craig Leslie by three shots. Lee posted rounds of 70-69-71--210 (-6). Leslie, who won his first tournament title last week, carded scores of 73-72-69--214 (-2).
