UCLA Maintains Lead After Second Round of NCAA Regionals

Bowling Green, Ky. - The third ranked UCLA men's golf team maintained their first round lead and is leading by two strokes heading into the final round of the NCAA Bowling Green Regional at The Club at Olde Stone in Bowling Green, Ky.
The Bruins posted a second round score of 287 (-1) to give them a total score of 571 (-5) heading into the final round. They lead by two strokes over second place Texas A&M, who put up a second round 278 (-10) to give them an overall score of 573 (-3). Chattanooga, Memphis and Virginia Tech rounded out the top five with tournament scores of 575 (-1), 582 (+6) and 583 (+7) respectively. The top five finishers from the regional will move on to the NCAA Championship at Riviera Country Club in Los Angeles, Calif.
Individually, junior Pedro Figueiredo followed up his first round 68 (-4) with a second round 69 (-3) to put him in a tie for first with Chattanooga's Stephan Jaeger at 137 (-7). Figueiredo recorded four birdies on the day, including three straight on holes 4-6. Senior Alex Shi Yup Kim also had a great round, firing a second round 68 (-4) to jump up to a tie for ninth at 142 (-2) heading into tomorrow's final round. Kim posted a great finish to his second round, birdying four of his last five holes. Sophomore Patrick Cantlay is currently tied for 13th place with a score of 144 (E) after shooting a second round 75 (+3). Finally, sophomore Anton Arboleda is tied for 26th at 148 (+4) after recording a 75 (+3) for his second round while junior Pontus Widegren shot a second round 76 (+4) and is tied for 51st with a score of 154 (+10).
