Cantlay Wins SCGA Amateur Championship

UCLA sophomore Patrick Cantlay's championship summer continued Sunday with a one-stroke victory at the 112th Southern California Golf Assn. Amateur Championship at the San Gabriel Country Club. Senior Alex Shi Yup Kim also tied for seventh place, giving the Bruins two golfers in the Top 10. Cantlay fired rounds of 69-70-65-66--270 (-14) and beat Manav Shaw of Bakersfield by one stroke. Cantlay began the final round trailing by three strokes, but quickly made up the difference by recording three birdies and an eagle on the first four holes. He finished the outward nine in five-under par 31 and played the inward nine in even par 36. He played the par 5 second hole, which he eagled on Sunday, in five under par for the tournament.
