Men's Golf Update from San Marcos Fall Classic

Four UCLA golfers were among the Top 10 individuals entering today's final round at Twin Oaks Golf Course, and one Bruin recorded an impressive result over the weekend on the European Tour. Senior Pontus Widegren held the 36-hole lead at the Cal State San Marcos Fall Classic following Monday's first and second rounds. Widegren fired rounds of 64-66--130 (-14) to take a six-stroke lead into today's third round. Freshmen Lorens Chan and sophomore Jay Hwang were tied for second at eight-under par 136. Hwang posted scores of 66-70 and Chan added rounds of 67-69. Sophomore Preston Valder was tied for ninth place at one-under par 143 following his rounds of 73-70. In other news, senior Pedro Figueiredo tied for 27th at the Portugal Masters over the weekend at Oceanico Victoria Golf Course in Algarve, Portugal. The UCLA All-American posted rounds of 70-70-70-69--279 (-5). |
