Each week, uclabruins.com will update and highlight select UCLA players' progress during the current MLS season. Games highlighted are from July 2-8. The Bruins lead all universities with 23 alumni in MLS.
Chad Barrett (Los Angeles Galaxy; Years played at UCLA: 2003-04)
Chad Barrett came on as a substitute and played 30 minutes in the Galaxy's 2-1 loss to Philadelphia on Wednesday. Barrett scored his first goal of the year in the 73rd minute, taking a cross right in front of the goal from Robbie Keane and sliding in for the finish. Overall, Barrett finished the match with one goal and two shots in his 30 minutes of play. Then on Sunday against the Fire, Barrett earned his seventh start of the season and played 65 minutes in the Galaxy's 2-0 win. He recorded one shot in the match and was subbed off in the 65th minute for Landon Donovan.

Tony Beltran (Real Salt Lake; Years played at UCLA: 2006-07)
Beltran started and played all 90 minutes in Real Salt Lake's 3-0 victory over Portland on Saturday. Beltran and the rest of the Salt Lake defense were terrific on Saturday, allowing just five attempts on goal and none that reached goalkeeper Nick Rimando. It was Salt Lake's eighth shutout of the season and Beltran has started and played all 90 minutes in seven of those shutouts.

Benny Feilhaber (New England Revolution; Years played at UCLA: 2003-04)
Feilhaber started and played 73 minutes at midfielder in the Revolution's 2-0 win over New York on Sunday. Feilhaber recorded one shot in the match and was subbed off for Shalrie Joseph in the 73rd minute.

Kevin Hartman (FC Dallas; Years played at UCLA: 1995-96)
In Wednesday's match against Toronto FC, Hartman became the first player in MLS history to reach 400 matches played. Hartman, the all-time MLS leader in saves and shutouts, first entered the league in 1997 with the LA Galaxy and is currently in his 16th season in MLS. Against Toronto FC, Hartman made three saves and allowed one goal as FC Dallas tied with Toronto FC 1-1. On Saturday against San Jose, Hartman earned his third shutout of the year after making one save in FC Dallas' 0-0 draw with the Earthquakes. Overall, he faced nine shots in the match and now has 50 saves on the year.

Hartman's 2012 MLS season stats: 15GP/15GS, 1,350 minutes, 50 saves, 22 GA, 1.47 GAA
Jordan Harvey (Vancouver Whitecaps FC; Years played at UCLA: 2002-05)
Harvey made his eighth start of the year and played all 90 minutes in Vancouver's 1-0 win over Colorado on Wednesday. Harvey and the rest of the Vancouver defense came up big in the match after facing 17 attempts on goal, including six on target. It was the seventh shutout of the year for the Whitecaps. Then on Saturday versus Chivas USA, Harvey again started and played all 90 minutes in defense as the Whitecaps drew with Chivas USA 0-0. Vancouver faced 16 shots in the match as they recorded their second straight shutout and eighth shutout overall.

Patrick Ianni (Seattle Sounders FC; Years played at UCLA: 2003-05)
Ianni started and played all 90 minutes at center back in Seattle's 2-1 victory over the Colorado Rapids on Saturday. Ianni and the rest of the Sounders' defense held the Rapids to just six attempts on goal in the match.

Chance Myers (Sporting Kansas City; Years played at UCLA: 2006-07)
Defender Chance Myers started and played all 90 minutes once again in Sporting Kansas City's 3-1 win over the Montreal Impact on Wednesday. He recorded one shot in the match. Myers, the No. 1 overall draft pick in 2008, also started and played the entire match for Kansas City in the team's 0-0 draw with Houston on Saturday. Myers and the rest of the Kansas City defense held the Dynamo to just 7 attempts on goal as they helped Kansas City earn their seventh shutout of the year. Myers has started and played every single minute for Sporting Kansas City this season and has played a huge role in helping the team to a first place standing in the Eastern Conference.

Amobi Okugo (Philadelphia Union; Years played at UCLA: 2009)
Okugo started and played all 90 minutes in both of Philadelphia's victories this week, a 2-1 win over the Galaxy on Wednesday and a 3-0 victory against Toronto FC on Sunday. Okugo has now started and played all 90 minutes in the Union's last five matches.
Union record: 5-9-2, 17 points, 8th place in Eastern Conference

Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake; Years played at UCLA: 1997-99)
Nick Rimando recorded back-to-back shutouts this week, as Real Salt Lake drew 0-0 with Seattle on Wednesday before blanking the Portland Timbers 3-0 on Saturday. Rimando made one save against the Sounders and did not record any against Portland. He now has seven shutouts on the season, tied for second best in MLS, and sports a scant 1.06 GAA on the year.

Rose came on as a substitute on Wednesday and played 26 minutes in Seattle's 0-0 draw with Real Salt Lake. He came on in the 64th minute for Brad Evans and did not record a statistic in the match. Then on Saturday, Rose started and played all 90 minutes in the Sounders' 2-1 win over the Rapids. It was Rose's seventh start in his inaugural MLS season and he recorded one shot in the match.
