Men's Soccer Wins Exhibition Against LA Blues, 3-1
Aug. 30, 2010
Playing its only exhibition of the preseason, the UCLA men's soccer team defeated the LA Blues, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon. Freshmen accounted for the Bruin scoring, with Victor Chavez scoring two, and Zack Foxhoven scoring the third. Chavez's first-half goal came off an assist from junior Eder Arreola, and his second-half goal was assisted by sophomore Ryan Hollingshead and freshman Andrew Tusaazemajja. Rounding out the scoring for UCLA was Foxhoven. Redshirt sophomore Daren Flitcroft started the play with a great through ball to sophomore Evan Raynr on a breakaway. Raynr's shot was saved by the goalkeeper, but the rebound fell to Foxhoven, who hit a half-volley from 15 yards out into the upper corner. Twenty-two players saw action in the game, which served as a tuneup for the Bruins' 2010 opener on Friday, Sept. 3 against Notre Dame in Bloomington, IN. |
