Dec. 12, 2011
Los Angeles, Calif. - Senior goalkeeper Brian Rowe, junior forward Chandler Hoffman and sophomore midfielder Kelyn Rowe were all named to the College Soccer News All-America Team, as announced by the publication today. Hoffman and Kelyn Rowe earned second-team honors while Brian Rowe was named to the third-team. Hoffman, a MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist and third-team NSCAA All-American, led the Pac-12 in both goals (18) and points (42) this season and was a first-team All-Pac-12 selection. Hoffman also was tied for first in the conference with five game-winning goals. His 18 goals were the most by a Bruin player since Joe-Max Moore had 18 back in 1991 and his 42 points were the most by a UCLA player since Seth George had 42 in 1997. He also finished the season tied for fourth nationally in goals and points scored. Hoffman tied UCLA records this season for consecutive games with a goal and multiple goal games, scoring in five straight games and tallying four multiple goal games. Kelyn Rowe was named the 2011 Pac-12 Player of the Year and led the Pac-12 with 10 assists on the season. His 10 assists also put him in a tie for eighth nationally. In addition, Rowe had six goals and 22 points on the year which was second only to Chandler Hoffman for most on the team. Rowe was named Pac-10 Freshman of the Year in 2010 and earned third-team All-America acclaim from the NSCAA last season. Brian Rowe had a great senior season, posting a career single-season best 12 shutouts. Rowe also recorded a 0.75 GAA on the season, which was tied for the Pac-12 lead, and had a conference best 0.20 GAA in Pac-12 play, which helped him earn first-team All-Pac-12 honors. His 12 shutouts are the third most shutouts by a UCLA goalie in a single season and the most by a Bruin goalie since Eric Reed had 12 back in 2005. For his efforts this season, Rowe was also named a second-team All-American by the NSCAA.
