LOUISVILLE, Kty. - Consolation bracket action was no kinder to No. 2 ranked UCLA as the Bruins fell to No. 5 Mississippi, 5-2, at the USTA / ITA Men's National Indoor Team Championships.
UCLA started strong by claiming the doubles point with victories on court Nos. 1 and 2. However, only Vince Allegre managed to win in singles as he battled back for a 4-6, 7-5, 6-1 win on court No. 2. Jean-Noel Grinda suffered only his second dual match loss of the season despite taking 18th ranked Sebastien DeChaunac to a tiebreaker.
UCLA plays No. 9 Florida at 8 a.m. Saturday, while Ole Miss will play Harvard at the same time.
