LOS ANGELES - Rain has caused the cancellation of the men's tennis match scheduled to be played today at the Los Angeles Tennis Center between No. 2 ranked UCLA and No. 12 Pepperdine. A decision about rescheduling the match will be made at a later date.
With a record of 5-0 overall and 2-0 in Pac-10, UCLA is not scheduled to play again as a team until Tuesday, Feb. 10, when they host Cal Poly SLO at the LATC for a 1:30 p.m. match.
Tomorrow, the Bruins will send two players to Dallas to compete in the ITA/Rolex National Indoor Intercollegiate Tennis Championships Feb. 5-8. The third leg of the ITA Grand Slam features 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams and will be played at the Brookhaven Country Club and hosted by Southern Methodist University. Vince Allegre, who is currently ranked No. 4 in the nation, is the No. 4 seed in the tournament after finishing as runner-up in the All-American Championships during the fall. Jean-Noel Grinda, who is ranked No. 6 in the nation, is a No. 5-8 seed. Grinda reached the semifinals of the All-American Championships and the quarterfinals of the Rolex Regional during the fall. Both are at-large selections into the singles draw.
