No. 4 Bruins Overpower Ducks, 6-1

Courtesy of GoDucks.com Oregon has its chances but could not capitalize in doubles play, losing all three sets. Arron Spencer and Sven Swinnen faltered for only the 6th time (15-6) all year, losing to UCLAs No. 8-ranked Alberto Francis and Kris Kwinta, 8-6. The duo led, 5-4, late in the match but could not hold the lead. Manuel Kost and Markus Schiller, played for only the second time all season, and were defeated by Philipp Gruendler and Luben Pampoulov, 8-5, at the No. 2 position. In singles, more of the same, with UCLA dominating the singles portion. The Bruins captured five of six matches. The highlight of the day belonged to the No. 35-ranked Swinnen, who defeated the BruinsNo. 6-ranked Tobias Clemens, 0-6, 6-4, (11-9). The win marked Swinnens 21st of the year and gives him a 4-1 record in conference play. UCLA won at positions No. 2 through No. 6, winning all five matches in straight sets. UCLA heads to Seattle tomorrow for a match with Washington beginning at 1:30 p.m.
