Four Bruins Reach Quarterfinals at Sherwood

Thousand Oaks, Calif. - The UCLA men's tennis team had four players reach the quarterfinals of singles at the Sherwood Collegiate Cup on Friday, as play began at the beautiful Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, Calif. UCLA's Marcos Giron, Adrien Puget, Dennis Novikov and Dennis Mkrtchian each won a pair of matches to reach Saturday's quarterfinals. All four players will be facing opponents from USC. Although he lost in the round of 16, redshirt freshman Karue Sell also turned in a big win on the day, as he notched a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Baylor's Mate Zsiga in the opening round. Zsiga was a 5-8 seed in the tournament. Doubles play begins on Saturday followed by quarterfinal singles matches. Complete results from Friday's action are below.
