Bruins Aiming for Titles at Sherwood on Monday

Thousand Oaks, Calif. - UCLA will have the chance to win two titles at the Sherwood Collegiate Cup on Monday, as Bruin players advanced to both the singles and doubles final a the Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, Calif. In singles, second-seeded Marcos Giron and teammate Adrien Puget met in the lower half of the draw, with the winner advancing to Monday's final. Puget came out on top on Sunday, downing Giron, 6-4, 6-2. He will face top-seeded Raymond Sarmiento of USC at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. Sarmiento was a 7-6(2), 6-2 winner over UCLA sophomore Dennis Novikov in the top-half of the draw. Despite the loss, Novikov still has the chance for a title at Sherwood, as he and Giron will face USC's Emilio Gomez and Eric Johnson in the doubles final. Giron and Novikov earned a spot in the title match following an 8-6 victory over USC's Max De Vroome and Roberto Quiroz in the semifinals.
