Kosakowski Named Pac-10 Freshman of the Year

LOS ANGELES - UCLA men's tennis player Daniel Kosakowski was named the 2011 Pac-10 Freshman of the Year, headlining a group of three Bruin players who recently received all-conference honors. Kosakowski, from Downey, Calif., is the third UCLA player to earn Pac-10 Freshman of the Year honors, joining Jean-Julien Rojer in 2000 and Benjamin Kohlloeffel in 2005. Kosakowski, who is currently ranked No. 37 in the ITA Singles Rankings, was also named to the All-Pac-10 First-Team. He is one of 64 singles players chosen to compete in the NCAA Singles Draw, which takes place next week in Stanford, Calif. Also earning All-Pac-10 honors were senior Amit Inbar and freshman Clay Thompson. Inbar, from Tel Aviv, Israel, was named to the second team after posting a 22-12 overall record as UCLA's No. 2 singles player. Thompson, from nearby Venice Beach, was an Honorable Mention selection who played at the No. 3 position for the Bruins. He currently leads the team in singles wins with a 23-12 overall record. 2011 All-Pac-10 Honors
