LOS ANGELES - Members of the UCLA men's and women's tennis programs kicked off the 2012-13 season this week at the ITA All-American Championships, an event which is annually one of the biggest on the ITA calendar.

Playing right down the road at the Riviera Country Club, the UCLA women had two doubles teams in action at the ITA Riviera All-American Championships on Thursday. Fourth-seeded Robin Anderson and Skylar Morton moved into the quarterfinals following an 8-6 victory over Kansas State's Karla Bonacic and Petra Niedermayerova. They will be joined in the quarterfinals by the second-seeded Bruin tandem of Courtney Dolehide and Pamela Montez, who were X-X winners over Tennessee's Brynn Boren and Kata Szekely.

Playing at the ITA Men's All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., sophomore Marcos Giron moved into the round of 16 on Thursday following a pair of straight-set victories. Giron began the afternoon with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Duke's Raphael Hemmeler. He followed that up with a 6-1, 6-4 upset over fifth-seeded Mate Zsiga of Baylor. Awaiting Giron in Friday's round of 16 will be Ohio State's Peter Kobelt.

UCLA's Clay Thompson was also in Thursday's main draw, however he suffered a 6-0, 6-4 loss to Notre Dame's Greg Andrews in the opening round.
