Dan Ames Places Third in Weight Throw, Bruins Finish 12th at NCAA Indoor Championships

Senior co-captain Dan Ames placed third in the weight throw.

Fayetteville, AR - At the conclusion of the 2004 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, held at Arkansas' Randal Tyson Track Center, the Bruins placed 12th with 17 points. LSU won the men's title with 44.50 points. Florida and Arkansas tied for second with 38 points, followed by Texas (fourth, 31) and Michigan (28 points).

In today's action, senior co-captain Dan Ames placed third in the 35-pound weight throw. He threw a personal best and school record-breaking 71-2.50 (21.70m). Former Bruin All-American Scott Moser set the previous record of 70-11 in 2002. Ames received his second All-America honors of the meet. It is his sixth indoor All-America honor and the ninth of his collegiate career.

In the men's pole vault, senior Pat Luke vaulted 17-4.50 (5.30m). He finished in a three-way tie for ninth.
