FRESNO, Calif.- The UCLA women's track team captured first place, while the men took second at the 1998 California/Nevada Track and Field Championships which took place this weekend at Ratcliffe Stadium.
Led by Coach of the Meet Jeanette Bolden, the women scored 145 points to easily take the title over Fresno State, who finished with 100.5. Suzy Powell, Seilala Sua, and Nada Kawar completed a sweep of the discus throw for the Bruins, finishing one, two and three respectively. San Diego State was third with 91 points.
The UCLA men's team also had a strong performance at the Championships, finishing with 139.5 points. But it wasn't enough to catch the Fresno State men's team, who tallied up 183 points. Cal was third with 84 points.
