Men's Track & Field Competes Well at Oxy Invite

Several members of the men's track and field team were in action on Saturday at the Oxy Invite in Eagle Rock.
In the 1500m, sophomore Philip MacQuitty ran a lifetime-best of 3:48.09 to finish seventh overall. Govi was 10th as he also ran a lifetime-best (3:48.71).
Freshman Pete Lauderdale tied for ninth in the 400m with a time of 47.94. Fellow freshmen Sean Burd (13th, 48.04), Andre' Chapman (16th, 48.51), Laijon White (18th, 48.78) and Wally Rodriguez (21st, 49.20) all ran season-bests in the 400m.
In the 800m, senior Jonathan Simmons ran a season-best of 1:50.99 for 17th overall. Junior Steven Norton tied for 19th as he ran a lifetime-best of 1:51.10. Sophomore Daniel Rosales ran a lifetime-best of 9:17.04 in the steeple to finish third overall.
In field events, freshman Aleksander Koch was third in the high jump as he equaled his lifetime-best with a clearance of 6-4. In the long jump, redshirt freshman Andrew Huusfeldt was eighth (22-9.75), while frosh Ahmed Mahmood was ninth (22-8). Mahmood was also 10th in the triple jump with a mark of 44-5.50.
The men's squad will not turn their focus to the post-season as they head to Eugene, OR next weekend (May 12-13) for the inaugural Pac-12 Championship.
