On Saturday (May 7), Art Venegas' UCLA men's T & F field team split into two squads - the pole vaulters competing at the 64th annual Modesto Relays and other Bruins competing at the evening Oxy Invitational at Eagle Rock.
In the open pole vault, senior Yoo Kim placed second (17-6.50, season outdoor best, NCAA Regional Qualifier) and freshman Dustin DeLeo finished eighth (16-6.75, personal-best, NCAA Regional Qualifier).
Bruin alumni who competed included:
John Godina, winning the shot put (68-5.75) and Juaune Armon placing first in the long jump (26-0.25).
The Bruins were paced by three, first-place individual finishes - junior Martell Munguia in the 800m (1:48.14, personal-best, NCAA Regional Qualifier, No. 3 on current Pac-10 chart, No. 9 in school history), senior Anthony Golston in the 100m hurdles (14.37), and freshman Josh Rider in the discus (169-7, personal-best, NCAA Regional Qualifier). UCLA's 4 X 400m relay (freshman James Rhodes, sophomore Jeff Jacobs, freshman Kevin Ahlstrom, sophomore Mike Elbogen) also finished in first-place (3:11.75).

200m - Smith (9th, 22.10nwi), Rhodes (13th, 22.47nwi)
400m - Jacobs (5th, top collegian , 47.49), freshman David Shipp (6th, second collegian, 47.56, personal-best), Rhodes (13th, 48.88), Elbogen (15th, 49.22).
800m - senior Ben Aragon (2nd, 1:48.71, season-best, NCAA Regional Qualifier), senior Erik Emilsson (7th, 1:50.58, personal-best), freshman Mike Haddan (13th, 1:51.99)
400mH - Ahlstrom (6th, second collegian, 53.22, tied personal
best), freshman Jason Eiker-Wiles (15th, 56.80)
