Sacramento, CA - Second day UCLA track & field results from the 2003 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, held at Sacramento State's Hornet Stadium in the A.G. Spanos Sports Complex.

Field
Discus (qualifying) -
Junior Dan Ames, the NCAA West Regional and Pac-10 champion, placed fifth in the first flight (10th overall) with a throw of 183-8 (55.98m). Ames, who has already qualified for the shot put final, advances to Saturday's discus final.

Senior Scott Wiegand, who placed third at the NCAA West Regional and fourth at the Pac-10 Championships, placed eighth in flight two, 21st overall, with a throw of 175-9 (53.56m). Wiegand does not advance to the final, but has already qualified for the shot put final.


400m (prelim) -
Freshman Craig Everhart, who was fifth at the NCAA West Regional and Pac-10 championships, placed fifth in heat three (23rd overall) in 47.10. The top-16 advanced to Friday's semifinal.
400m Hurdles (semis) -
Seniors Kyle Erickson and John Barbieri placed 10th and 16th overall, respectively. Erickson was fifth in heat one in 50.07. Barbieri placed eighth in heat two in 51.89. The top-eight times advanced to Friday's final.
