Track & Field Set For Pac-10 Championships

The post-season begins this weekend for the UCLA track and field teams as they head to Eugene, Oregon for the Pac-10 Championships. The meet is being hosted by Oregon and runs on Saturday and Sunday.
Events begin Saturday, May 16 at 1:30 p.m. PT with the trials of the 4x100 relay, while the men's javelin will kick off the field events at 1:35 p.m. PT. The women's hammer will kick off the second day of events on Sunday, May 17 at 12 noon. PT, with the rest of the day's events starting at 1 p.m. PT.

Last season, the Bruin women finished fifth with Arizona State taking the women's title. Oregon won the men's crown, while the Bruins finished third.
Rhonda Watkins heads into the meet with the top long jump mark (20-7.25) and will be looking to battle for both the long and high jump crowns. Katy Viuf leads the conference in the pole vault (14-1.25) and will be looking for her first Pac-10 crown.
Nicole Leach holds the top 400m time in the Pac-10 (52.04) and will vie for her first conference title in the event. Krishna Curry figures to battle for the 800m title as she heads to Pac-10s with the No. 2 800m time (2:06.05).
On the men's side, Boldizsar Kocsor will be looking for his third and final hammer crown. A plethora of pole vaulters will be in the hunt for a conference crown as well as five are 17-foot jumpers. The 4x100m relay will look to make their mark this weekend, while other athletes will focus on improving or obtaining regional qualifiers.
