UCLA Wins Season Opener
The Bruins take on Penn State on Thursday

The UCLA men's volleyball team opened their 1998 campaign with a win over Ball State on Wednesday in the first round of the Outrigger Hotels Tournament. The Bruins needed just three games to defeat Ball State, 15-2, 15-4 and 15-8. UCLA starts the year 1-0, while Ball State falls to 0-1. The Bruins will take on Penn State on Thursday.
Adam Naeve led the way for the Bruins with 17 kills and hit a match high .483. UCLA out hit Ball State .373 to .131, including a .429 to .163 advantage in the first period. Evan Thatcher had 11 kills and seven digs.
Jason Fehr led Ball State with 10 kills.
