Bruins and Warriors Battle again Tonight
Feb. 1, 2007 Eighth-ranked UCLA and ninth-ranked Hawai'i will tangle on Friday, Feb. 2 in the second of a two-match league series in Pauley Pavilion. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. The match can be heard live on uclabruins.com and on ESPN 1420 in Hawai'i. The Bruins (4-6, 2-5) won Wednesday night's battle 3-1 as the Warriors (2-5, 2-3) committed 27 service errors, a season high. On the night, Hawai'i hit for a better pecentage (.279-.222), out-blocked the Bruins (18.5-11.5), out-dug them (45-38) and scored more points (80.5-79.5). Conversely, the Bruins served six aces, led by two apiece from sophomore Sean O'Malley and senior Steve Klosterman. The Bruins also received a solid performance from red-shirt freshman Brett Perrine, who came off the bench and hammered seven kills (.700) to go along with two block assists. "I just got in there and did my best," Perrine said to the Daily Bruin. [The] passing was good, hitting was good, and I was able to put the ball down."
