Worley, who was named MPSF Player of the Week on Jan. 14, helped lead the Bruins to a pair of key conference road victories last week. On Mar. 13, he established career-highs of 26 kills and 27.0 points in a 3-2 come-from-behind victory against then-No.3 ranked Long Beach State. In the deciding set against the 49ers, Worley smashed six kills without an error.
Two nights later, he served four aces, recorded 12 kills and three blocks in another 3-2 victory rally against Cal State Northridge. The victories extended the Bruins' winning streak to four matches. For the week, Worley hit .406, averaged 4.45 points per set and scored 44.5 points. Currently, he is the Bruins' third-leading scorer with 279 points and their second best server with 31 aces. Worley's selection marks the 17th time a student-athlete from UCLA has earned the AVCA's National Player of the Week honor. The most recent was Weston Dunlap, who earned the honor on Mar. 28, 2011. The Bruins are not competing this week because of final exams. They return to action on Mar. 29 at UC San Diego. |
