Ker, Klosterman Earn AVCA All-America Honors

First-time selection for both players from the AVCA

May 7, 2007

UCLA volleyball standouts Tony Ker and Steve Klosterman each earned All-America honors from the American Volleyball Coaches Assn., it was announced last week.

Ker, a junior, earned AVCA First-Team All-America honors for the first time after leading the Bruins in digs for the third straight year. Ker recorded 265 digs in 2007 for a 2.52 average in 30 matches. He also passed better than 97.6% of his chances this past season. In his three-year career, he has recorded 852 digs to rank second on the all-time UCLA list. Ker becomes the 52nd first-team All-American coached by Al Scates.

Klosterman was selected as a Second-Team All-American by the AVCA. He led the Bruins this season in kills (472) and points (553.5) and hit .313 in 994 attempts. For his career, he ranks in UCLA's Top 10 in all three categories.

Previously in their careers, both Ker and Klosterman had earned All-America honors from Asics/Volleyball and Spike/Volleyball magazines. Last season, Klosterman was voted the Most Outstanding Player at the NCAA Championship, and Ker was selected as Asics/Volleyball's Defensive Player of the Year.
