The UCLA men's volleyball team defeated USC Friday night in the feature match of the USC Tournament at the Galen Center.

The Bruins won a best-of-three exhibition against their arch-rivals, 25-17, 23-25, 25-21 behind some clutch play from junior All-American Gonzalo Quiroga. Quiroga came up with a pair of big blocks down the stretch to key the Bruins' victory. His solo block gave the Bruins a 23-19 advantage when the Trojans were closing the gap, and he teamed with freshman Trent Kersten on another block to give the Bruins a 21-17 lead. Junior Matt Hanley ended the third set and the match with a kill.

In their opener, the Bruins lost 2-0 to UC Irvine, the defending NCAA champion. Set scores were 25-15, 25-14 in favor of the Anteaters. The Bruins also lost the third set 25-20.

On Saturday the Bruins will play three matches: at 8 a.m. vs. CS Northridge; at 9:45 a.m. vs. Pacific and at 3 p.m. vs. Stanford. Admission is free to all matches.
