Men's Volleyball Wins Two of Three at USC Tournament

The UCLA men's volleyball team ended its weekend Saturday afternoon winning two matches of a triple-header at the USC Fall Tournament at the Galen Center.

The Bruins lost their dawn-breaker in three sets to CS Northridge, but came back strong to beat Pacific 2-0 and Stanford 2-1. For the weekend, the Bruins won three of five matches, including victories over USC and Stanford.

In their 8 a.m. match, CS Northridge won 25-19, 22-25, 25-12. Juniors Robart Page and Dane Worley led the Bruins with three kills each.

In the 9:45 a.m. match, the Bruins easily handled Pacific, 25-23, 25-18. They won a third set, 25-20. Junior Matt Hanley and Worley each led the team with 10 kills apiece.

In their final match of the tournament, UCLA beat Stanford, 28-30, 25-18, 25-21 as Page hammered home the final kill in set three. Page led the Bruins in this match with 11 kills.

Next match for the Bruins will be Nov. 11 in the newly renovated Pauley Pavilion against the Alumni. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. followed by a retirement celebration for legendary former head coach Al Scates. Tickets, which include both events, are $25 each prior to Nov. 2.
