The UCLA men's volleyball program signed four players to National Letters of Intent during the recent signing period, Head Coach Al Scates announced this week. All four players are Southern California high school student-athletes.

Expected to enroll in the Fall of 2009 are: Jonathan Bridgeman (Santa Ynez Valley Union HS, Santa Ynez, Calif.), Noah Davisson (Valencia HS, Placentia, Calif.), Ryan Kachold (Quartz Hill HS, Quartz Hill, Calif.) and Dane Worley (Foothill HS, Tustin, Calif.).

"We have filled all of our needs for the future by signing this group of student-athletes," said Scates. "It is a talented and competitive group of young men, and they are all solid students."

Bridgeman, a 6-8 opposite, has lettered three seasons on the Santa Ynez Valley Union varsity, and last year earned Co-MVP honors of the Los Padres League in addition to All-CIF Div. II Third-Team honors. Also a five-year member of the Santa Barbara Club Volleyball Team, he earned all-tournament team honors while leading SBCV to the bronze medal at the 2008 Junior Olympics. A member of the National Honor Society and the California Scholarship Federation, he boasts a 4.4 grade point average.

Davisson was a three-sport (cross-country, basketball, volleyball) scholar-athlete at Valencia High as a freshman. For the last two years the 6-5 outside hitter has led the Tigers to a pair of Empire League titles, earning first-team all-league honors in 2007 and '08 and Valencia's MVP award last season. Davisson is a six-semester California Scholarship Federation member, an AP Scholar and a member of the National Honor Society.

Kachold, a 6-5 outside hitter/opposite, led the Rebels to an undefeated record and the 2008 CIF Div. III championship. Additionally, he earned Div. III Player of the Year honors. Last summer, he also led the Pacific Palisades Volleyball Club to a gold medal at the 2008 Junior Olympics, while earning all-tournament team honors.

Worley, a 6-3, outside hitter/opposite, is a three-time California State Beach Volleyball Champion with an A rating. At Foothill, he earned Third-Team All-CIF and First-Team All-Seaview League honors. Academically, Worley has been named to the Foothill High Honor Roll every season and earned Scholar-Athlete honors in each of the last three years.
