REDLANDS, Calif. - The No. 3 UCLA men's water polo team downed Pomona-Pitzer, 22-3, Saturday morning in the first of three scheduled matches at the Inland Empire Classic. Seniors Marco Santos and Cameron Smith and sophomore Scott Swanson registered three goals each in the win.

Freshman Ben Hohl and sophomore Scott Davidson registered two goals. Sophomore goalkeeper Chay Lapin tallied six saves in the cage for UCLA. In total, 14 Bruins scored goals as UCLA improved to 2-0 on the season.

UCLA raced to a 3-0 lead midway through the first quarter and led 5-1 after one frame. The Bruins outscored Pomona-Pitzer 6-1 in the second period to assume an 11-2 halftime cushion.

Santos led the Bruins' second-half assault, as the senior center scored 29 seconds into the third quarter and added consecutive goals midway through the final frame.

The Bruins will play Occidental and Redlands on Saturday afternoon in the Inland Empire Classic.
