No. 2 UCLA Men's Water Polo Edged by No. 1 Stanford, 8-6

STANFORD, Calif. - The No. 2 UCLA men's water polo team dropped an 8-6 decision at No. 1 Stanford on Saturday afternoon. Senior attacker Scott Davidson led the visiting Bruins (9-2, 0-1 MPSF) with two goals in their MPSF-opening contest, and senior goalkeeper Chay Lapin registered 10 saves in the cage.
Stanford's Janson Wigo led the host Cardinal (9-0, 1-0 MPSF) with four goals, and twin brother Drac Wigo registered two goals for Stanford. Senior goalkeeper Jimmie Sandman collected nine saves.
Stanford led by 1-0 margin after the first quarter before outscoring UCLA, 4-2 , in the second frame to assume a 5-2 halftime advantage. UCLA clipped the Cardinal's margin to two goals - a 6-4 Bruin deficit - after three quarters. Both teams traded one pair of goals in the final frame.
The Bruins return to action at No. 11 Santa Clara on Sunday. Game time is 11 a.m.
