LOS ANGELES -
The UCLA men's water polo team will host the UCLA Invitational at Spieker Aquatics Center on Saturday, Sept. 1 and Sunday, Sept. 2. The Bruins will open their 2012 season with three regular-season matches and three exhibition contests.
Under the tutelage of fourth-year head coach Adam Wright, UCLA will open the two-day round-robin tournament with the invitational's first match. The Bruins will face Pomona-Pitzer at 8 a.m. in a regular-season match. The Bruins return to the pool two more times on Saturday. UCLA hosts Cal Baptist at 3:30 p.m. in another regular-season match and then hosts fellow-MPSF team, Pepperdine, in an exhibition contest to end the first day of competition at 6 p.m.
Day one features nine water polo matches between a field that includes the host Bruins, Cal Baptist, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, La Verne, Pomona-Pitzer, Pepperdine, UC Santa Barbara and USC.
Sunday's competition is mostly highlighted with exhibition matches between all of the MPSF teams (Pepperdine, UCLA, UCSB and USC).
