UCLA Secures No. 3 Seed in MPSF Tournament

MPSF Tournament Central | MPSF Standings (PDF) LOS ANGELES - The UCLA men's water polo team will face Pacific in its first-round match of the MPSF Tournament on Friday, Nov. 26. The Bruins (18-4, 6-2 MPSF) posted a 3-0 record against the Tigers (4-4, 16-9) during the regular season. UCLA and Pacific will square off at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 26, at Stanford's Avery Aquatic Center in Palo Alto, Calif. The winner of that match advances to a semifinal contest on Saturday, Nov. 27 at 3 p.m. against either No. 2-seed USC or No. 7-seed UC Santa Barbara. Six of the conference's nine teams concluded their regular-season schedules Saturday, to finalize the conference standings and the upcoming MPSF Tournament (UCLA, Stanford and California had already finished their regular-season schedule). California's 9-6 victory over Stanford on Friday helped the Golden Bears finish the regular season with a perfect 8-0 mark in MPSF play and earn the conference's top seed at the upcoming tournament. UCLA and USC each finished with 6-2 MPSF records. The Trojans have earned the No. 2 seed by virtue of defeating the Bruins on Nov. 1 in the regular-season MPSF match. Stanford went 5-3 in the MPSF to secure the conference's No. 4 seed. UC Irvine and Pacific each went 4-4 in MPSF play, but Irvine's victory over Pacific on Oct. 31 helped the Anteaters secure the conference's No. 5 seed. Rounding out the conference tournament's eight team field include No. 7-seed UC Santa Barbara and No. 8-seed Pepperdine.
