No. 13 Men's Cross Country Narrowly Misses 3rd-Place Finish At Pac-10s
Oct. 31, 2008
The No. 13 men's cross country team finished fifth overall at the 2008 Pac-10 Championships in Eugene, OR on Friday, missing third-place by just two points. Senior Drew Shackleton led the way for the Bruins, earning All-Conference honors with his eighth-place season-best run of 23:45.89. Oregon won the team title, while Stanford was second (47 pts.) and Washington and California tied for third with 104 points. The Bruins posted a team score of 106 points. Heading into the meet, the goal for the team was to finish in the top-three, and missing that spot by two points was disappointing. However, the Bruins made up ground on the top teams in the conference and will look to parlay that into a ticket to Nationals in two weeks at the regional meet. Senior Mike Haddan also ran a season-best to finish 19th overall as UCLA's No. 2 runner (24:15.86). Junior Marlon Patterson (22nd, 24:25.10), junior Marco Anzures (29th, 24:35.69) and sophomore Kent Morikawa (32nd, 24:41.73) rounded out UCLA's top five runners. Anzures' finish as UCLA's No. 4 runner was a season-best and the first time he ran in UCLA's top four. Team Results UCLA Results (78 total runners) |
