UCLA Women's Basketball Dealt Loss By 15th-Ranked Colorado

Bradley leads Bruins with 11 points and eight rebounds.

Los Angeles, Calif. - Fifteenth-ranked Colorado handed the UCLA women's basketball team a 79-48 loss this afternoon in Pauley Pavilion before a crowd of 1,015. The Buffaloes jumped out to a 21-4 lead to begin the game, enjoyed a 42-26 advantage at the halftime break, and led by as many as 33 points in the second half. The Bruins played their second game without the services of leading scorer Michelle Greco, who sat out the contest for medical reasons.

Senior guard Jenny Roulier led the way for the visitors with a game-high 21 points, including a career-high tying five made three-point shots. On the inside, 6-4 senior center Britt Hartshornn paced the Buffaloes with11 points and a game-best 10 rebounds. Colorado captured its third-straight win on the season and upped its overall record to 8-2.

UCLA, which saw its record drop to 3-4 on the season, was led by junior guard Jalina Bradley who scored 11 points and grabbed a career-high eight rebounds. Senior post Shalada Allen added 11 points and six rebounds off the bench.

The Bruins received an additional spark off the bench today by the initial appearance this season of junior forward Kristee Porter. Porter, who played in last night's NCAA Regional final volleyball match against Long Beach State, entered the contest at the 12:35 mark of the first half and proceeded to block a shot on her first defensive opportunity. She finished with three points and three rebounds in 20 minutes of action.

"You can't give a good basketball team a big lead like we did and hope to come back," said UCLA head coach Kathy Olivier. "I was excited to see that we rallied at the end of the first half with a good defensive effort, but Colorado is well-coached and made some second-half adjustments. They spread the floor well and were able to get a lot of good looks at the basket. We will now be able to get our second and third leading scorers (Kristee Porter from volleyball and Whitney Jones from soccer) from a year ago back in practice on a consistent basis, and that will make a big difference for us."
