UCLA senior forward Lindsey Pluimer (San Clemente, Calif.) has been selected to the CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District 8 Women's Basketball first team and is now eligible for the national ballot for Academic All-America honors.

Pluimer, who earned third-team honors as a sophomore and second-team acclaim as a junior, is an all-conference performer who has started every game of her collegiate career, a two-time co-captain and a two-time first-team Pac-10 All-Academic honoree. In her career, she has averaged 12.6 points and 6.0 rebounds while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of over 3.7 in Communication Studies, which is one of the most difficult majors to be accepted into at UCLA. She has already fulfilled the requirements needed to graduate after just three years and one quarter and will graduate either Cum Laude or Summa Cum Laude in March.

Pluimer is UCLA's leading scorer and rebounder in 2007-08, averaging 14.4 points and 6.8 rebounds. She currently ranks in the Top 6 in both categories in the Pac-10. She has started every game of her UCLA career, 114 consecutive heading into Friday's game against Washington State, and currently ranks 13th on UCLA's career scoring list with 1,434 points and is 11th in rebounds with 687 and seventh in blocked shots with 80. She needs just four more rebounds to move into UCLA's all-time Top 10 in rebounding. Earlier this season, she became only the fifth Bruin ever to total at least 1,300 points, 650 rebounds and 75 blocked shots for a career, joining Ann Meyers, Necie Thompson, Natalie Williams and Maylana Martin.

In order to be nominated for Academic All-District and All-America honors, a player must be a starter or significant reserve, must have a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average and must have completed at least one full academic year at her institution. Voting is done by members of CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America).
