UCLA junior guard Doreena Campbell was named to the Pre-Season All-Pac-10 women's basketball squad in a vote of media from around the conference. The Pac-10 also announced the results of its annual media poll for women's basketball and UCLA was listed fourth. The media were in agreement with the Pac-10 coaches, who also selected UCLA (19-12, 9-9 T4th last year) to finish fourth in the league in last week's Pac-10 Coaches Poll.

Campbell, who was named second-team all-conference last season, led the the Bruins in scoring with a 12.9 points-per-game average. She ranked 11th in the league in scoring and placed sixth in assists (3.73) in 2008-09. Campbell earned her first Pac-10 Player of the Week honors last season after leading the Bruins over the Trojans with a 20-point, nine rebound effort. She poured in a career-high 25 points in a game last year at Maryland.

Joining Campbell on the five-member Preseason All-Pac-10 team were Jayne Appel-Stanford, Alexis Gray-Lawson-Cal, Ify Ibekwe-Arizona and Jeanette Pohlen of Stanford.Stanford was a unanimous selection by the media as the top team in the conference. The Bruins were listed in fourth behind Arizona State and Cal.

UCLA opens up play on Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. in Pauley Pavilion with an exhibition game against Master's College.

The Bruins tip off the regular season against Illinois State on Nov. 14 in the first round of the University of Iowa Hawkeye Challenge. The Redbirds finished 27-8 last season and captured the regular season championship of the Missouri Valley Conference. ISU returns four starters from a team which advanced to the semifinals of the WNIT.

UCLA's will welcome the University of Hawaii on Nov. 19 for its first home game of the new season. Tip-off time in Pauley Pavilion will be at 7 p.m.
