Inside UCLA Women's Hoops

Arranaga was particularly effective against Pac-10 regular season champion Stanford, recording career-highs in points (21) and rebounds (8) against the Cardinal on Feb. 24. She also scored a team-high 16 points and grabbed seven boards against Stanford in the Pac-10 Tournament. For the season, she averaged 6.4 points and 2.9 rebounds in 29 games and three starts. At Centennial HS in Corona, CA, Arranaga led her team to two league titles and was a four-time all-league selection. July 31, 2002 Hey Basketball Fans, It's hard to believe that we're already halfway through summer. Time sure does fly when you're busy, and that is definitely what I've been, BUSY! We've been working out since the end of school. Everyone's been doing great! We don't even mind the 6:30 am workouts anymore. Yeah, right! Coach Tracey has kept us all in great shape. I really enjoy working out with some of the other sports. There are girls from soccer, softball and volleyball. Nothing like some competition! We just finished our last basketball camp, and as much as I'm sure our team had fun with the campers, I'm pretty sure they're glad the camps are done. There were about 150 girls this camp, so everyone was kept busy. I have to say, I enjoyed the talent show the campers put on the best. Our five freshmen came down to camp to say "Hi" to everyone. It looks like they're having fun. They're in UCLA's Freshman Summer Program; they will take classes and participate in activities put together by UCLA. It's hard to believe I was in their shoes two years ago! See time really does fly when you're busy. Everyone will be here for the second half of the summer so that we will all be conditioning and lifting together. As for myself, finals are this week, so immediately after the camp finished I started studying. I'm taking Psychology 127, which is abnormal psychology. It's a really interesting class, definitely a lot to learn. I'm hoping to ace my test on Friday! Everyone is looking good and everyone seems to be enjoying the summer. We'll have to schedule a beach day for the team so we can get out and enjoy the California weather! - Gennifer Arranaga
