Sept. 4, 2002

My summer was full of early morning workouts, which were made interesting with the combination of basketball, soccer, volleyball and softball players, many women that I had seen and greeted but never really met before. None of the teams work out together during the regular season, so it was cool to see how the different sports work out. Every team had their own unique ways. Basketball and softball were good at the short sprints, and soccer kicked our butts in long distance. Those women can run forever! It was amazing. But the best part of it all was seeing each team improve in its own way.

Besides workouts, I enjoyed spending time with my teammates. Being a long ways from home, my teammates took me in as a sister. I also subleased an apartment, where I met three ladies. That probably was not the smartest thing I had ever done, but for the most part I enjoyed it.

Between A and C summer sessions, I took a little vacation to Dallas, Texas, where my best guy friend lives. He plays football for Tyler Junior College. I had the best time going out and exploring Dallas with my friend and his football buddies, all of us well over six foot tall.

When I was not working out, playing basketball or hanging out on the weekends, I was working the front desk at the UCLA Hall of Fame. I never knew that there were so many employees there. I think I have met every coach of every sport working up there. I also met a few athletes who are pretty nice.

That is pretty much the summary of my summer. I'm looking forward to the season starting in November, and I hope to see you all there in Pauley!
