Inside UCLA Women's Hoops
Note: Krystle is a sophomore center on the UCLA women's basketball team. Last season, she played in 25 games, averaging 2.4 points and 1.6 rebounds per game. She scored a career-high 15 points vs. Washington on Feb. 3 and tied her career-high with four rebounds. Against Cal in the first round of the Pac-10 Tournament, she had seven points in the victory, including a crucial three-point play which sparked the Bruins to a 13-0 run. At Hoover HS in Hoover, Alabama, Johnson was a Street and Smith's honorable mention All-American and led her team to the State Championship as a senior. Sept. 11, 2002 Wow, I can't believe that summer is almost over. It seems like it was just yesterday I was at home in Alabama (Hoover!!! Go Bucs) and I was telling all my friends that I was coming back to L.A. on the 26th of July. Now it is September, and school starts in less than two weeks. I cannot wait to get school started and get back on the court. I feel that I have matured so much since last season, and hopefully I will be a bigger help for the team. But to let you know what this Dirty Dirty South girl does everyday, I will give you a little schedule (everybody knows how organized I am): I wake up at 6:20 AM for weights/conditioning, and then afterwards I come home at CLUB CALI!!! to take a shower. Then I have class (Mon., Wed., Fri.) from 10AM to 12:50PM. After class I play in The WOOD (Wooden Center) with my teammates. And then I come home to watch my favorite TV shows (Big Brother, Road Rules, Family Feud), enjoy some home-cooked meals (before I have to move back to Saxon), and talk to my family back in the Bama (Meme, Daddy, Big Sis Kim, and Heavyn) or my boyfriend Demetri (10-5-01). I spend most of the time on the phone with Demetri, but only at night, because he plays football for West LA College, and he doesn't get out of practice until after 7PM. So that's how a typical day goes for me. Weekends are for reading, or watching movies (learning all the words to my favorites), or swimming. Sometimes I go to my boyfriend's football practice and watch them practice, since I love football. But this weekend, I went to our football game, with the recruits and the team. Both of the recruits were really cool, and I liked them both. But Monday it was back to business in the weight room and on the track getting ready for my sophomore season (I am getting old). So sorry to say, but I have a final tomorrow. Yes, that is right, tomorrow (September 11th), so now it's time to say goodbye to all my Bruin fans. I just want to give a little shout-out to people who might read this diary. What's up to my baby Heavyn - You know you're crazy. My parents and my sis - Love you all and I miss you. My Boyfriend/Best Friend/Homie Demetri Smith - I love you, pookey. My family in St. Louis; Romeo over at POWER 106FM; My best friend in the whole-wide world - CJ (Chris Jackson) Go Tigers!!; James; Crystal; All the "ballas" over at HHS - Who Run it? HOOVER!!!!; My Idol Shaq (Get that toe together, honey); Whitney and the Soccer team; All my teammates and all my friends back home and in Cali. Hope to see everybody out at our games this season as the 2002-2003 Lady Bruins take the court. Peace Out KJ55
