Bruins Capture Second Place at Bruin Wave Invitational

Tarzana, Calif. - The UCLA women's golf team shot the lowest round of the day and made a late charge to take home second place at the third annual Bruin Wave Invitational.
UCLA put up a final round score of 302 (+14) to give them an overall score of 905 (+41). The Bruins, who began the day down 15 strokes, almost came all the way back but eventually fell just two strokes short of the lead. Pepperdine captured the team title after shooting a 315 (+27) for their final round to give them a score of 903 (+39) for the tournament. Oklahoma State finished the tournament in third place with a total of 911 (+47) while UNLV and San Diego State rounded out the top five with scores of 920 (+56) and 926 (+62) respectively.
Individually, freshman Erynne Lee tied for third place after shooting a 76 (+4) for her final round to give her an overall score of 224 (+8). Juniors Lee Lopez and Tiffany Lua tied for sixth place at 226 (+10) after they posted final round scores of 75 (+3) and 77 (+5) respectively. Sophomore Ani Gulugian had the lowest round of the day for the Bruins, as she recorded a 74 (+2) for her final round to finish tied for 11th place at 229 (+13). Gulugian also had one of the shots of the day, as she scored an eagle on the ninth hole after holing out from the fairway.
Christine Wong of San Diego State won individual medalist honors after posting a final round 78 (+6) to give her a total score of 219 (+3).
The Bruins will next compete at the PING/ASU Invitational at Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, Ariz. from Fri., Mar. 30 to Sun. Apr. 1.
