The top-seeded UCLA women's golf team remained in the driver's seat at the NCAA Women's Golf Central Regional by increasing its lead at the University of Texas Golf Club in Austin.

The Bruins posted a team score of 293 (+5) in the afternoon round and will take a six-stroke lead into the final round on Saturday. After 36 holes, the Bruins stand at even par 576, followed by Purdue at 582 (+6) and TCU at 585 (+9). Denver was fourth at 590 (+14) and Texas was fifth at 596 (+20). Alabama and Texas A&M were tied for sixth at 597 (+21) and Nebraska was eighth at 600 (+24).

After 54 holes of play, the top eight teams advance to the NCAA Championship at the University of New Mexico in two weeks.

Individually for the Bruins, freshman Maria Jose Uribe, the first round leader, posted a second round score of 73 (+1) and dipped to second place at 138 (-6). Junior Tiffany Joh posted the Bruins' best score of the day -- a two-under par 70 -- and vaulted up the leaderboard into a tie for seventh place at 143 (-1). Junior Maiya Tanaka continued her stellar play, posting a 73 (+1) for a 36-hole total of 146 (+2). She was tied for 13th place.
