Bruins in Third Place after Opening Round in Colorado

The top-ranked UCLA women's golf team was in third place following the opening round of the NCAA West Regional at Colorado National Golf Club in Erie, CO.
The Bruins posted a first-round score of 290 (+2) and trailed first place Stanford (287, -1) by three shots. North Carolina was in second place at 288 (E). LSU was fourth at 291 (+3), followed by Illinois and Cal in a tie for fifth at 296 (+8).
Redshirt junior Lee Lopez was four-under par through 14 holes before she bogeyed three of the last four holes for a one-under par 71. She was in a tie for fourth place. Sophomore Ani Gulugian was tied for 12th at even par 72. She made two bogeys and two birdies on the outward nine, then made nine straight pars on the inward side. Freshman Erynne Lee was tied for 18th at one-over par 73, following a two-bogey, one-birdie round. Junior Tiffany Lua was four-over on the outward nine, but rallied with a pair of birdies and seven pars on the inward side. She was tied for 32nd at 74 (+2). Senior Brianna Do was tied for 54th at 76 (+4). She was one over par though 14 holes before posting bogeys on three of the last four holes.
Stanford's Sydney Burlison held the first round lead after firing an opening round 67 (-5).
