UCLA Women's Golf Head to Stanford
Oct. 18, 2012
Follow UCLA Athletics on Twitter UCLA's Women's Golf team heads to Stanford this weekend to compete in the Stanford Intercollegiate. The three-day tournament will run from Oct. 19-21, at the Stanford Golf Course in Palo Alto, CA. The competition presents another tough field for the Bruins, headlined by the Washington Huskies. The Huskies, currently rated by Golfweek as the top-ranked team in the nation, lead a group also featuring #2 Arizona, the #4 USC Trojans, #7 Texas, and #9 UC Davis. The lineup is daunting, but it will also allow the Bruins their best chance thus far to examine some of their Pac-12 opponents prior to conference play, as the tournament boasts nine teams from the league. "We're looking forward to a great event," said Head Coach Carrie Forsyth, "Stanford is one of our favorite courses as a team and we've had a lot of success there. We think it's going to be a good week." The Bruins will experience some welcome stability this weekend, bringing the same lineup that played at the Fall Preview in Athens, GA. Senior Lee Lopez will be joined by junior Ani Gulugian, sophomores Erynne Lee and Kyle Roig, and freshman Louise Ridderstrom. "We've had an interesting Fall so far," notes Forsyth, "we've had a couple of injuries, a couple of girls travel with the World Amateur team, and we've got an opportunity to have our freshman play." "It's actually been really good," continues the Bruins head coach, when asked about the interesting start, "I think we're learning a lot about our players and getting a chance to really help out our new freshmen. We're looking forward to having the whole team back in action though, pretty soon." For tee times and pairings click here. |
