Los Angeles, CA - The second-ranked UCLA gymnastics team recorded its third score of 197+ this season in easily defeating California, Sacramento State and Cal State Fullerton in a quadrangular meet in Pauley Pavilion Sunday afternoon. The Bruins recorded a total of 197.15 to outdistance their nearest competitor, second-place Cal, by nearly six full points. UCLA swept the Top 3 places in every event and the all-around, led by Kristen Maloney's all-around, vault, bars and beam victories.

UCLA started the meet off with a bang, earning a total of 49.475 on vault. Tasha Schwikert and Maloney led the way with scores of 9.925. Kate Richardson added a 9.9, and Ashley Peckett stuck her vault for a 9.875. Sophomore Courtney Walker, a last-minute substitute for Jordan Schwikert, threw a Yurchenko layout full for the first time in competition and scored a career-high 9.85.

On uneven bars, the Bruins recorded five scores of 9.8 or higher, with Maloney leading the way with a season-best 9.95. Freshman Jordan Schwikert added a 9.9, and UCLA totaled a 49.4 to extend its lead to over three points ahead of second-place Sacramento State, 98.875-95.75.

Maloney and Richardson led UCLA on beam with scores of 9.925 and 9.875, respectively. T. Schwikert added a 9.825 as the Bruins totaled its only sub-49 score of the afternoon, a 48.675.

Senior Christie Tedmon started UCLA off on floor with a career-high tying 9.85. Walker competed on floor in Pauley for the first time and impressed with a career-high 9.875. Maloney followed with a 9.95, and Richardson added a 9.925. T. Schwikert put the exclamation point on the meet with her first career 10.0 on floor exercise. It was her second 10 in as many meets. She earned a perfect 10 on uneven bars last Monday against Nebraska.

Maloney tied her career-high in the all-around with a 39.75 to claim first-place. T. Schwikert was second with a career-best 39.625, and Richardson placed third with a 39.5. The Bruins' Olympic trio (Maloney and Schwikert were on the 2000 U.S. team, and Richardson was on Canada's 2000 and 2004 teams) also combined to place in the Top 3 on vault, beam and floor.
