Northern California Bruins Heidi Moneymaker (Santa Rosa) and Andrea Fong (Fremont) shined in front of their large contingent of family and friends. Moneymaker won the all-around with a career-high tying 39.375 and also placed first on bars (9.875) and floor (9.925). Fong, in just her second-ever all-around performance, placed third with a career-high 38.525. She also hit a career high on beam (9.75). The meet also signified a comeback for junior Susie Erickson, who competed for the first time this year after sitting out with a broken ankle. Erickson competed on beam and scored a 9.65.

Said UCLA head coach Valorie Kondos, "It's nice to come up to Cal and make the opportunity count for us. We usually take this meet a little lightly conisdering that our won-loss record doesn't matter, and we aren't facing a Top 10 team. Our goal is to get the athletes to compete their best regardless of what meet it is and how many people are in the stands. And that is exactly what we did. We were able to come out with our second-highest score of the season, even while not competing at full strength."

"The highlights of the meet were having Susie Erickson back in the linejup after rehabbing fro ma broken foot the first three months and having our senior Andrea Fong hit all four events in only her second meet going all-around."

UCLA will host the second annual Bruin Classic Sunday, Feb. 22 in Pauley Pavilion at 2 pm. Other teams competing are Penn State, Oregon State and Cal State Fullerton.
