Senior Vanessa Zamarripa (O'Fallon, Ill./O'Fallon Township HS) of the UCLA gymnastics team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week for Jan. 7-13.

Zamarripa won the all-around and three events to lead second-ranked UCLA to a victory over fifth-ranked Utah, 197.425-195.300. The all-around win was her second this season, and she has now totaled seven individual victories in just two meets. Zamarripa scored 39.675, tied for the highest all-around total in the nation so far this season, and tied her career-high on uneven bars with a 9.975. She also set a new season-high on beam with a 9.925 and tied her season-best on vault with a 9.825. Her marks helped the Bruins achieve national-best scores in team total (197.425) and on floor exercise (49.55). The Bruins now rank No. 1 in the nation with a season average of 196.788, and Zamarripa ranks No. 1 in the nation on floor (9.963 average), No. 2 in the all-around (39.575), No. 5 on beam (9.9) and No. 6 on bars (9.888).

This is Zamarripa's second consecutive UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and eighth of her career.
